Safetrack LM enhances Historic Square transformation
25th Jan 2009
Aldermanbury Square, located in the heart of the City of London and housing such prestigious buildings as The Guildhall and the new Eric Parry designed eponymous Aldermanbury Square has recently undergone a major transformation to provide an area offering both a modern workspace and a tranquil setting in which to relax and enjoy. In keeping with the high quality aesthetics of the square granite was specified for the surfacing. However on a practical level this type of surface poses adhesion and wear problems for traditional thermoplastic road markings. Consequently the City of London Corporation opted for the modern, granite friendly option of the MMA based Safetrack LM system.
Prior to application contractor, FM Conway, removed the existing markings, which had worn badly due partly to their poor adhesion to the hard granite surface. They then conducted adhesion test to confirm the strong adhesion the Safetrack LM system would achieve to the substrate.
The Safetrack LM Durable, a cold applied product, pigmented primrose yellow was then laid in two lines to form the new “No Parking” indicators in the Square.
The outcome: within an hour of the 300lm of Safetrack LM Durable being applied, the road was re-opened for full pedestrian access and traffic use and the Square was left with new, aesthetic and long lasting road markings.
